How IT Works
Around 85-90% of shower heat energy goes down the drain. Waste Water Heat Recovery for Showers (WWHRS) extracts the heat from the shower waste water and transfers it to the cold feed of the shower, and / or the water heater for the property. This reduces the demand for hot water whilst showering which saves energy and household costs.
Vertical WWHRS
Waste shower water flows through a copper heat exchanger, with the cold mains water flowing around the exchanger.
Horizontal WWHRS
Waste shower water flows over a copper heat exchanger, with the cold mains water flowing through the exchanger.
System A installation method is shown above where preheated water is sent to the water heater and the cold side of the shower, providing the highest efficiency and greatest savings. System B sends the preheated water to the shower only, used for easy retrofits, upgrades, and for second systems in a property which have to be System B.
